Security Score is a free self-assessment that helps Australian businesses understand their security posture in about ten minutes, without jargon, sales pressure, or a consultant on the clock.
Why we built it
Most small and mid-sized businesses know security matters but don’t know where they stand or where to start. Formal audits are expensive, standards documents are unreadable, and generic advice doesn’t tell you what to fix first. Security Score bridges that gap: 27 plain-English questions, a score you can track over time, and a personalised action plan ordered by real-world risk.
How the scoring works
Every question maps to recognised frameworks: the ACSC Essential Eight, ISO 27001, SOC 2 and the Australian Privacy Act. Controls that stop the highest-impact attacks, such as multi-factor authentication, patching, endpoint protection and backups, are weighted more heavily. Your report shows an overall score, a breakdown by area, and a prioritised list of fixes with plain-English explanations of why each one matters.
Who’s behind it
Security Score is a service of Defyn, an Australian digital consultancy. If your report surfaces gaps you’d like help closing, our team is a reply away, but the assessment is free and yours to use regardless.
